I can’t even believe that Christmas is just over two weeks away! I wanted to share our minimal + traditional Christmas home tour this year!
My Christmas decor has more or less looked the same every year since we got married in 2016. Last year (our 4th Christmas together) I wasn’t super inspired by it and was wanting to mix things up.
We had talked about getting a real tree for several years, but every year would just put up our fake tree and say “maybe next year”. I had purchased that tree at a thrift store before we were even married. It was perfect in our first apartment, but way too tiny in this house!
At the end of the 2019 holiday season I actually gave our fake tree away knowing it would force me to get a different one this year!
REAL CHRISTMAS TREE
I had hesitated for several years about getting a real tree. As a kid I was horribly allergic to them. Thankfully, I’ve had NO issues with ours this year and we’ve had it for 2+ weeks already!
I did expect there to be more of a scent from the real tree. I can’t say I’ve noticed it at all!
It took a few days for me to be used to the asymmetrical + imperfect real tree. But now that it’s decorated + lit up I love it!
I don’t know that we’re die-hard real Christmas tree people, but it’s fun for now!
CHRISTMAS PRINTABLES
I created these Christmas printables – a Christmas bucket list, movie checklist, plus lots more! You can download them for free 🙂
I’ve been asked about our stockings several times. They’re actually hand made from old sweaters by my mom! We also have one for our dog, but it doesn’t match the colourful pom poms haha!
I shared how to make this pom pom garland recently!
I LOVE the soft glow of the Christmas tree.
Our decor feels SO calm this year. Other years it’s felt cluttered to me, but I really aimed for minimal + traditional Christmas decor this year, and I’m loving it.
I keep the Christmas decor super minimal in the kitchen. Our kitchen already lacks storage space, and I spent LOTS of time cooking. I prefer the surfaces to be clear most of the time!
I’ve been totally obsessed with the way the Christmas tree reflects in this mirror! This is the first time our tree has been in this spot, but I think this is where it will always go from now on!
I love sitting on the couch, watching a Christmas movie and seeing the reflection of the lights in the mirror.
Everest even has a festive bandana 🙂
I hope you enjoyed our minimal + traditional Christmas home tour!
