I can’t believe our baby will be here anyday! While we know that baby won’t be sleeping in the nursery by themselves right away, we wanted a space organized with all of their things. Here’s a tour of our gender neutral boho minimal nursery.
We have the IKEA Sniglar crib which I love! It’s simple, timeless and made of non-toxic materials without any flame retardants, paints, sealants, etc.
I currently have our Snuggle Me Organic in the crib, but I plan on using that throughout our house whenever I need a safe place for baby.
And of course our Cuddle and Kind Henry doll which is one of my favourite touches in this room!
We decided to leave the guest bed in this room. Our family all lives out of province and it’s important to us that we have a comfortable space for them when they visit.
The first thing we did in this room was the board + batten. It’s actually a paintable wallpaper, and was fairly easy to install!
Wall Colour: Benjamin Moore Backwoods at 50% strength.
STORAGE
Since this is a small room, we opted for a custom closet instead of a dresser. We did this ourselves, but there are lots of closet kits available if you prefer! (Similar here).
When doing any type of built-in storage, I recommend choosing your baskets BEFORE committing to measurements! There’s nothing more annoying than not being able to find the right baskets for a space. We designed our cubbies so that they can fit all of the IKEA baskets, giving us lots of options although we ended up going with baskets from Canadian Tire. (Similar here).
I love the boho minimal vibe that the mix of wicker + white baskets gives us in this space.
On the top shelf we have baskets for the next clothing sizes. As the baby grows we can swap these out for the too small items.
We also have a basket full of cloth diapers. We plan on cloth diapering after the first few months, but at that point we’ll probably move the diapers to a more convenient location.
We did matching smaller baskets midway down the shelving unit and we plan on using these as “drawers” for the clothing size that the baby is currently wearing.
This encourages us to keep clothing minimal and organized!
I’ve seen this book storage idea all over Pinterest using the IKEA spice racks and knew immediately that it was something I wanted in our boho minimal nursery.
We decided to make our own shelves because it was significantly cheaper and we could customize the size. If that’s not an option for you, here’s a similar shelf!
I decorated these with a combination of books, essential oils, artwork and a framed ultrasound photo. I love how they turned out and they can be updated as baby grows!
I bought this rainbow hook at a local boutique on a recent trip to Ontario and it’s perfect for hanging my baby wrap collection! (Similar: here, here, here)
The wraps are Wildbird and Solly Baby – I can’t wait to wear this baby in a few weeks!!
I hope you enjoyed this boho minimal nursery tour! I’m so happy with how this space turned out. It feels cozy but still simple + minimal.
